UPDATE: 2/10/24 – Blue has found his forever home! Thank you for your interest. If you’re looking for an amazing dog or cat, be sure to check out Heart of Idaho Animal Sanctuary!
About Blue and why he’s available to adopt:
I’m not able to have a permanent pup because of a) my travel schedule and b) my summer work schedule, so I reached out to Mountain Humane in Hailey to see if I could foster. Since I live in Stanley, which is in Custer County, I wasn’t able to foster from there, so a friend recommended I try the Heart of Idaho Animal Sanctuary in Challis. They were so happy to have a foster for Blue, because he has been in the shelter his whole life! They were nice enough to bring him down to Stanley, and I’ve had him for about a month. He’s now approximately 6 months old, about 50 pounds, and is very loving. He’s 85% very good boy, and 15% puppy. He loves playing fetch, and he even sometimes brings it back if you crouch down to the ground and hold your hands out while calling him. He’s great off leash, and I’ve taken him cross country skiing and back country skiing often, and he does both just amazingly well. He sleeps through the night and “goes” outside. He knows some basic commands and really just wants to be near you and around all day. He’ll lay at my chair when I’m working, and he’ll go for as long or short of a walk as you’d like. He’s fully vaccinated and neutered. He’ll need to have his three-year rabies shot later this year. He’s free to a good home, and I’m hoping to find him one before February 15th. I’m traveling on the 17th, and if I don’t have someone by then, I’ll need to take him back to the shelter. They’re VERY nice there and the shelter is top notch, but it’d be fantastic to find his forever home instead. Text me if you want to meet him! 513-313-0219. Thanks for looking. ~Ryan
